These are some topics and subtopics that I am or will be teaching about. I usually group my students up into four groups and they work together on a project. I’m not sure if this is how I need to approch the muligenre project for the first time or not.
Pirates: famous North Carolina pirates. Not really sure on how to narrow this down.
Food Nutrition: heath, food, exersise are some topics within this unit.
State Capital “Raleigh”: places we will visit on our field trip
North Carolina Moutains: people, appalachin, cultures
Lighthouses
I think the pirate or Raleigh theme would both make great topics for the multigenre project. Each is diverse and would allow students to explore different people, places, and events. If you chose to use Raleigh as a theme, students could create travel brochures, pamphlets, I poems from people related to Raleigh, etc. I created my multigenre project as a webquest so it was easier for the students to navigate through links and stay focused on specific ideas. I’ll bet you could incorporate some virtual tours of Raleigh if you chose to set yours up as a webquest, too. Good luck… let me know how it turns out!
