I think the pirate or Raleigh theme would both make great topics for the multigenre project. Each is diverse and would allow students to explore different people, places, and events. If you chose to use Raleigh as a theme, students could create travel brochures, pamphlets, I poems from people related to Raleigh, etc. I created my multigenre project as a webquest so it was easier for the students to navigate through links and stay focused on specific ideas. I'll bet you could incorporate some virtual tours of Raleigh if you chose to set yours up as a webquest, too. Good luck... let me know how it turns out!
